Mr and Mrs Malinowski, Harrow Weald, Middlesex

Mr and Mrs Malinowski contacted Artemis Tree Services regarding a large Oak tree which is located at the rear of their garden. This particular tree is situated in a very small, enclosed paved garden, and was in desperate need of reducing in size as the branches had grown very close to theirs and the neighbouring properties. The fact that the garden was so small made the operation particularly challenging as there was little room for error in safely reducing the tree and bringing the cut branches carefully to the ground. This tree is also a protected specimen and after permission was sought and granted we were able to take up the challenge.

This particular job required the use of specialist cutting and lowering methods to ensure the safe descent of large sections of the tree’s crown as we had a tiny area to work within beneath the tree. With a team of skilled grounds men and climbers we were able to reduce the entire crown of the tree by 30% which was completed to the satisfaction of the local council’s arboriculture consultants. By reducing the tree’s crown by this amount, we ensured that all factors of the problem were satisfied.

The tree was cut back away from the buildings providing safe clearance, and the tree retained a natural, look, shape and balance, without stressing the tree’s growth cycle. Although situated within an urban landscape this tree is in view of a busy dual carriageway and backs on to a local sports centre. Therefore it was essential for us to ensure the cutting operations and overall reduction of its crown was performed to an exceptional standard due to the tree’s high amenity value. Needless to say our approach is to ensure all of our tree work is carried out to the highest standard to ensure trees remain healthy and safe for generations to enjoy in the future.
